Sometime within this quarter you will be writing an argumentative essay about the death penalty. The link below connects you to a Ted Talk's video and I encourage you to take notes to use for your argumentative essay.
After viewing the video, discuss the following by Saturday, Oct. 20th:
What is the "common ground" that the speaker tries to establish with his audience. (Common ground is a Rogerian technique of argumentation in which the speaker or author find what they believe both sides of an argument would agree upon.)
What rhetorical strategies does the speaker use.
Highlight something that struck a chord with you in terms of new knowledge or in terms of your agreement or disagreement with the speaker's thesis.
Finally, respond thoughtfully to two classmates postings by Sunday, Oct. 21st.
